Oops. Meant to get this one up last night, but dammit, there’s a shortage of good rogues on World of Warcraft and I gots to repreSENT!
Ghostrider comes out on Friday and I don’t know why I know that. I seriously doubt this movie is going to be any good but for some reason I still hold on to the remote possibility that they won’t completely destroy this character.
The commercials both scare and delight me. At first, it looked like they were taking a serious attitude toward the story and giving it a hard edge (re: Batman Begins). Now I see TV spots that have GR’s hellfire setting off sprinkler systems, stereotypical goth-girls talking about his “edge look”, and announcers talking up the movie’s “flaming skulls, hot chicks and rad bikes, TO THE EXTREME!”
All he’s got to do now is drive his chopper off a snowboarding ramp while hi-fiving Tony Hawk all the while slamming a Mountain Dew and he’ll represent everything corporate America thinks the youth culture wants to watch.
Still, it’s got Sam Elliott. Can’t be all bad, right?
