Summer of Steve

Summer of Steve

Ah, summer! A time for students to forget about their studies for a few months and really explore the world. For me, it’s a time to re-take all those classes I slept through. At this rate, by the end of my college career, I’ll have accumulated enough debt to qualify for small country aid from the United Nations. That is, if the UN is still around by then. It could either be dismantled or evolve into the United Federation of Planets for all I know.

Besides swimming in debt, I’ve been looking into breaking into the game journalism industry. Yes, it IS an industry. It’s come a long way from the days of groups of nerds gathering in basements on Saturday nights to drink Shasta and determine if one of Lara Croft’s boobs was bigger than the other one.

Tim Buckley over at Ctrl+Alt+Del runs a sister site for his comic called CAD Media. There, he reviews the latest console and PC games. His latest trip to E3 has convinced him that such an endeavor is too much for one man to handle. Therefore, he has started to accept applications for freelance writers to aid him in his mission to conquer all media.

I submitted my resume and sample review today. Hopefully, he’ll follow the link to my website. I managed to artfully insert it into every third sentence. When he does follow it, he’ll see that I have his site linked and be forced to hire me in payment of all the traffic I sent his way. So begins my meteoric rise to stardom by telling other people what to think and do. Just like Gene Shalit.
