Spoiler alert! Well, not so much an alert, since you already read the comic. More of a spoiler afterthought, I guess. But all the horrible plot devices mentioned in the comic actually take place in the new Wolverine movie.
No, seriously, they have a freakin’ amnesia gun. That’s like item number one on the hack writer’s shopping list. Plus, they pull the classic minion attack where they send people to kill him when they already know he’s indestructible. Upon seeing their forces wiped out, the villains conveniently reveal the fact that there really is a weapon that can harm Wolverine and they had it the whole time.
The fight scenes were acceptable, the special effects were okay, but the greatest special effect of all had to be pulling Patrick Stewart’s face tight enough to bounce a quarter off of it. Seriously, I know the film is supposed to take place a few decades before the first films, but in trying to make Professor X look younger they just made him look like a mannequin.
